Here are some quick tips if you plan to visit Yellowstone National Park. The "More Information" button at the bottom will take you to our website were we get into the details about planning a trip to Yellowstone as well as each section of the park.












Tip #1 - Download the Yellowstone National Park Geyser app. The app will display the predicted eruption times for Old Faithful, Grand, Castle, Great Fountain, Daisy and Riverside geysers. In our experience it was pretty accurate.

Tip #2 - Great Fountain Geyser – Geyser Rangers are using an eruption interval this year of 11 hours plus or minus two hours. The key thing to watch for is if the water crowns over the edge of the internal ring of the geyser. Once this happens the geyser will blow within 70-110 minutes.


Tip #3 - If you are in Yellowstone to see wildlife spend early mornings in the North part of the park and Lamar Valley. Check with rangers for info about the bear management areas and wildlife activity.

Tip #4 - If you're in Yellowstone to see geysers, it is all about West Yellowstone. Visit geysers in the late evenings to beat the heat, crowds and see amazing sunsets. Depending on the weather, early mornings can be a good time to visit geysers. If it's cold you'll likely only see steam.


Tip #5 - You will have more food and lodging options in West Yellowstone than Gardiner in the North. Make sure you check restaurant closing times if you plan to spend late evenings in the park.

Tip #6 - June to August is the most popular time to visit Yellowstone National Park but midday heat will drive many animals up to higher, remote parts of the park. You’ll have get up earlier and hike further to find them during the busy summer months.

Tip #7 - Carry bear spray. Seriously, have it on you at all times. You can now rent bear spray in Yellowstone. A bear spray rental kiosk is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in front of the Canyon Visitor Education Center.

Tip #8 - Check the streams and rivers in South Yellowstone, near West Thumb. During spring time you can find Grizzlies in the streams feeding on fish.
